PARENTS SPEND 9 HOURS FOR ROYAL KRAAL STAMP
MBABANE – As parents prepare their children for school, some residents of LaMgabhi Etiyeni spent almost nine hours waiting for a royal kraal stamp at Ndabazabantu Office.
Information gathered was to the effect that the office of Ndabazabantu was unoccupied for the better part day as the King’s Liaison Officer Godvolwendlovu Magagula was reportedly indisposed. Some of the affected residents informed this publication that they had been to the office since morning. They stated that they were stranded, along with the representative from the area’s royal kraal, who was there to approve the stamping of documents required for the OVC Grant application at the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office.
whereabouts
“We have been here since morning, trying to get the royal kraal stamp and we have not been assisted. The office of Ndabazabantu is unoccupied and we are getting different versions about his whereabouts. We have been told that he has not returned to office since he left for the Marula Festival. Some officers are not clear about his whereabouts,” said Shadrack Makhanya who was among the frustrated residents. He also stated that the royal kraal stamp was removed from the royal kraal after the demise of the late Chief Mabhedla Hlophe. The area has been without a chief since the death of Mabhedla who died about 30 years ago. It is common practice that royal kraals’ stamps are returned to the office of Ndabazabantu, pending the installation of the new chief. The new chief only gets the royal kraal stamp after receiving a blessing from the King. When asked about his whereabouts, Magagula stated that he was at home as he was not feeling well. He also mentioned that apart from his illness, he was on another assignment.
delegated
“I have delegated powers to the regional secretary to stamp documents on my behalf. The last time I spoke to him, he told me that he was on his way to the office and I hope he has started helping them,” Magagula said at 3:03pm. Magagula also mentioned that an arrangement had been made to replace him with King’s liaison officer, from Pigg’s Peak as of tomorrow pending his recovery. When called after the interview with Magagula, the parents confirmed that they had started receiving assistance from the regional secretary. The Principal Secretary Bhekithemba Gama had announced that lessons should commence yesterday.
perfect
Gama said the call for the start of lesson did not mean government was perfect but was aimed at ensuring that pupils did not miss out as they were expected to sit for their final examinations in October and November 2022. However, some parents and teachers objected to the call for the start of lessons, stating they needed some time to prepare their children for class. Some parents suggested that schools should reopen after Easter holidays.
