7 INJURED AFTER MP’S CAR INVOLVED IN CRASH
LUVE – A car belonging to Mkhiweni Member of Parliament (MP) Michael Masuku was involved in a head-on-collision at Luve on Friday, injuring seven people.
The car, according to MP Masuku, was driven by his son and he was from Mkhiweni. The legislator, who is a member of the Parliament Portfolio Committee of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, attributed the accident to his delay in turning up for the meeting that was to be held at Mbelebeleni Umphakatsi on Saturday.
Meeting
However, the committee meeting that was aimed at soliciting views from residents of Mbelebeleni on the Marriage and Property Appropriation Bills failed to kick-off after the Chief of Mbelebeleni Prince Gcokoma turned the committee members back, saying they were not in his schedule. When the committee members arrived at the umphakatsi, a community meeting was in progress. The Chairman, Kwaluseni MP Sibusiso Mabhanisi Dlamini, introduced the committee to the chief and he said he did not know anything about their coming. It was then that the committee, after consulting with the other members resorted to leaving. Three cars were involved in the car accident and the injured people were admitted to the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial (RFM) Hospital in Manzini and they are currently receiving treatment.
Confirmed
Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the accident yesterday. Meanwhile, Vilakati also confirmed nine cases of drink-driving that were reported over the weekend and that the suspects were yet to make their appearances in various magistrates courts.
