FB ACCOUNT FAKE, IT’S JUST A DIRTY GAME - ASPIRING MP
MANZINI – It’s nothing, but dirty game of politics!
This was said by Sabelo Ngcamphalala, the aspiring Siphofaneni Member of Parliament (MP), who said he was convinced that there were people who were all out to tarnish his name. The aspiring parliamentarian said this following a screenshot of a Facebook account’s inbox with his name and picture and it reflected that he was talking to a supposed Facebook friend. The topic of the purported conversation was about the upcoming secondary by-elections for a Member of Parliament who will represent the Siphofaneni Constituency. In the message, it appeared as if the aspiring MP was responding to the supposed Facebook friend who asked him why he lied that former Siphofaneni MP Mduduzi ‘Gawuzela’ Simelane told him to withdraw from the race of representing the people of Siphofaneni in Parliament. In the response, it appeared as if Ngcamphalala told the supposed Facebook friend that indeed the former Siphofaneni MP called him and asked him to withdraw from the by-elections.
Pressure
Again, in the message it appeared that the aspiring MP also told the purported Facebook friend that he was also under pressure from labakhulu. It also says; “Themba Masuku wanginika umsebenti (gave me a job) to ensure that LaZwide (aspiring Siphofaneni MP Nomalungelo Simelane) doesn’t win (the by-elections).” Ngcamphalala said the Facebook account which was used to convey the above message was fake. He said he believed that it was created by the same people who were spreading rumours that he was being sponsored by certain organisations.
It is worth noting that yesterday, there were claims that the aspiring MP was purportedly sponsored by Mangololo Eswatini, but the candidate and political organisation denied the claims. On top of that, Ngcamphalala said recently, some of his campaigning posters around communities under Siphofaneni Constituency which were posted on poles and walls, were removed by unknown people. He said he believed that these occurrences were done by people who wanted to tarnish his reputation ahead of the much anticipated secondary by-elections for the position of an MP under Siphofaneni Constituency.
Moreover, he said he believed that the information which came with the fake Facebook account, together with the claims that he was sponsored by Mangololo Eswatini, had already affected his campaign for the parliamentary seat. He claimed this was because he had already received various phone calls from the electorate who were worried about what they were seeing on social media and hearing on the streets.
Tarnish
“I am still trying to explain that I believe all this was done by people who wanted to tarnish my name ahead of the secondary by-elections,” the aspiring MP said. Meanwhile, the DPM, when called for comment on this matter, said; “I did not see it, maybe it’s because it was not important. It’s village politics and I am above that.” It is worth noting that the secondary by-elections for the position of an MP under Siphofaneni Constituency will be held on Saturday.
