MYSTERY AS BABY DISCOVERED DEAD AFTER ALL-NIGHT PRAYER

HHELEHHELE - Mystery surrounds the death of a 10-month-old baby, whose mother believes died during an all-night prayer service, while the church’s prophet believes otherwise.

It was gathered that Prophet Sabelo Nhlabatsi of World Victory Christian Church, prayed for the minor’s parents and prophesied that the toddler was supposedly sick. The all-night prayer was held on Friday and the church is located at Hhelehhele in the eastern part of the city of Manzini.The infant’s death was discovered by his parents on Saturday morning after they returned from the all-night prayer service. It was gathered that the mother had carried the baby on her back during the service, but removed her just before the prophet prayed for the congregation, including the toddler’s parents.

Narrating how the incident happened, an impeccable source disclosed that the baby’s parents left their rented flat at Hhelehhele to the all-night prayer service at around 8pm on Friday. The source said the mother carried the baby on her back before she and her partner took off for church. At this instance, the source said the baby was awake. According to the source, along their way to church, the baby fell asleep and the mother worshipped while carrying her on her back. He said in the duration of the night while at church, at around 1am, to be specific, the mother brought the baby down from her back and laid her on her laps. The source said the mother noticed that the infant was producing mucus was coming out of the infant’s nostrils and would often wiped it off. At around 2am, the source said the prophet started to pray for the congregants and when the mother’s turn came, the ushers reportedly took the baby from her so that the prophet could lay his hands on her.

The source said the prophet, who had seen the child when she was taken by the ushers, asked who the baby belonged to. He said the mother of the baby communicated to the prophet that the baby belonged to her and the in turn the prophet asked where the father was. She responded that the father was around and signalled him to come over. “To this, the prophet warned the parents to avoid quarrelling because something bad could happen to the baby. He (prophet) even prayed for the father to get a good job, which would enable him to take care of his family,” the source said. Thereafter, the source said at around 4am, the couple headed home. He said when they woke up at around 7:30am, they discovered that the baby was no more. The source said according to the mother, she suspected that the child died during the all-night prayer. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the death of the 10-month-old baby. She said the police were still investigating the matter. According to the source, the police will conduct a post-mortem today, which they believe would assist them to conclude their investigation.
