APOSTLE ‘HLULABATSAKATSI’ PACKS THOUSANDS
MANZINI – Cape Town-based South African prophet Apostle Moosa Joshua Mohlala attracted over 3 000 people in his first Eswatini prayer service at Bosco Skills Centre Hall in Manzini.
Apostle Mohlala is popularly known as ‘Hlulabatsakatsi’ and is a founder of South African mega church, Shekinah Healing Ministries. Trading as Apostle Mohlala Ministries, the church in Khayelitsha, Cape Town, has probably one of the biggest congregations in the province, with up to 10 000 worshippers every Sunday. Mohlala announced after the service on Friday night that he was opening a branch of the church in Eswatini. He did not divulge much details, but stated that information would be made available for people through the media. People started flocking into the 2 500-seater hall from 3pm on Friday and the service began at about 6:30pm with a praise and worship session. The prayer was dubbed ‘the service of the door’ and the charismatic prophet said the time had come for some spiritual doors to be opened while others were kept shut. He said everything started in the spirit realm before manifesting in the physical, therefore, success in life was also built from the spirit. Mohlala told the congregants that the prayer service was about spiritual doors.
Reading from the book of Mathew 13 verse 25, Mohlala said the enemy comes at night when everyone was asleep to plant destruction in people’s lives and close doors to their finances, health and prosperity. He prayed for the congregants and declared open doors in their lives, while others were delivered from evil spirits which he said had tormented them for a long time.
“The enemy has come at the thick of the night, opened doors in our lives, and planted weed. Where we have read, the Bible talks about letting the deadly plant of the enemy grow together with the will of God until the harvesters sift through it. I have come to uproot the will of the devil today; he has tormented God’s people for a long time. Some have lost their access doors to money and success, while some have had doors to their health closed. As we pray today, I want you to believe that God will do it and you will receive your deliverance,” he said.
The flamboyant apostle then prayed for people in the arena and released words of prophesy to those who attended the prayer session. Some spirits manifested even without the laying of hands as people received their deliverance. Others squirmed on the floor while others vomited substances as Mohlala prayed for what he called ‘the evil they have eaten’. A prayer for the country was further made in the service. Mohlala spoke about the intersection of faith and belief and said the congregants were about to receive the evidence of things unseen so that their lives would change. He said his mandate on earth was to turn things around and remind the generations that everyone could live the life that God had designed for them at birth. He presented a vigorous self-determination sermon within a calm, pleasant demeanour. “I believe that making the impossible possible starts by receiving Christ. For me, that is faith,” he said.
Mohlala’s life’s journey started as a young man growing up in kaNyamazane near Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, in the mid-90s, where he had a vision. “In my sleep I would see myself preaching and speaking to a multitude of people – but I put it out of my mind. In my village there was an old man who I had a dream about. He said: ‘Mohlala boy. I’m dying; still you have not shown me the way’. Two days later I heard that the very same old man died. These kinds of dreams continued and eventually the only thing I could do was to go on a fast to find out what I was being called to do,” he narrated. Speaking after the service, Mohlala said he had always found the country to be very receptive to the word of God.
“Eswatini people have always been humble and a peace-loving society and the welcoming was truly amazing as always. The service was also successful as the mission of praying for the sick, the deliverance and the prophecies went in earnest. From yesterday’s experience I realised that I have to conduct frequent visits in order to deal with the satanic attacks,” he said.
The apostle further prayed for peace to prevail in the current political unrest. “Our prayer is for a spirit of the Almighty to reign supreme in all the spheres of humanity be it socially, political and economically, we do not subscribe to any political ideology but our focus is in the word of God and the spiritual up-lifting of the Eswatini society,” he added. He stated that what he was bringing for the country was based on the fact that God reigns supreme and that all and sundry should abide by the principles and teachings of the Bible. He said his church would be characterised by the demonstrable power of God and people should come prepared for an anointing that breaks chains.
