MISS ESWATINI 2022 TOP 10 REVEALED
MBABANE – The end is drawing closer.
It was a bitter sweet day yesterday at the Arts and Culture office in Manzini as the top 25 Miss Eswatini contestants were cut down to 10. The elimination process started at 11am seeing all the stunning young hopefuls cuddle up together and pray for the best outcome. The beginning of the event saw Musawenkhosi Mantinto, and Miss Eswatini President, Catrien Potgieter welcoming the girls and sharing with them the tips of the trade and how beauty pageants are all about displaying the best aspects of yourself. Just after the clock hit noon the results were tallied and handed over to Mantinto, who at that moment directed the contestants to step out of the room and catwalk back according to their respective numbers.
After all 25 girls were back in; the time had come for the ones who had made it to be announced. The atmosphere in the room quickly changed and the nervousness on the girl’s faces was visible. First to be called on and receive good news was Londeka Maziya, who seemed surprised to have made it. After her the results came, in no particular order as names were called and some received the news that their journey in the Miss Eswatini competition had come to an end.
Balindile Sithole, Fezile Mthupha, Lindelwa Mabuza, Nakita Bailey, Pamela Lukhele, Shanice Mamba, Tania Nunn, Vuyelwa Simelane and Zandisile Howe were the nine lucky contestants to make up the final 10 joining Maziya. There were tears of joy and of sadness as some of the unlucky girls could not come to terms with the news and how their Miss Eswatini dream had just ended. After the finalists were chosen, the remaining 15 girls were asked to stay back so they could receive some words of encouragement as this was certainly not the end of the road and that the girls had to take this as a learning curve. Miss Eswatini President, Potgieter mentioned how this year was definitely their best year yet and this development in entrants made picking and cutting the numbers down even harder for them and the office.
“We really wish we could have taken all 25 girls to the finale as all of them bring a different feel to the pageant and are very strong contenders but we couldn’t,” mentioned Potgieter. The top 10 will go through a series of tests and sessions where they will be trained and quizzed, which will take them up to the final crowning which will take place on October 26 at the Sharma House in Ezulwini from 5pm.
