MBABANE – Government says it will provide more buses today, to ferry members of the public for free, to their various destinations.

This was said by the Acting Prime Minister, Themba Nhlanganiso Masuku, when he visited the Mbabane Bus Rank yesterday to assess the situation on the ground. Masuku said government was more than ready to dispatch more buses today and they would start operating even earlier than yesterday. He said government was monitoring the situation to ascertain the need to increase the number of buses to transport commuters in case the public transport workers continued to park their vehicles. The acting PM said as government, they would not allow the citizens to struggle just because some people were causing disturbances in the country. He said the provision of the buses was the plan B government was talking about on Monday. He said government was determined to serve the people even under the current situation.

State

When asked if government would provide transport for the other routes that were not serviced by the state buses yesterday, Masuku responded to the affirmative, stating that government was monitoring the situation to provide the transport where needed. He appreciated the police officers who were driving and escorting the buses when travelling from different places. He urged them to continue doing so and serve the nation as that was part of their duty. He told them that the nation should not suffer in their presence. After visiting the bus rank, Masuku who was in the company of the Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala and the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Pholile Shakantu, they visited street vendors and shops that were operating yesterday.

The acting PM and his team supported the vendors by buying their wares. He said they would not allow the vendors to go back home empty-handed, due to the fact that people did not come to town because there was no public transport. When visiting the shops that were operating yesterday, Masuku appreciated shop owners  for not listening to people who were deceiving them by telling them not to open their shops and support them in their agendas.
