Trace
He was then asked whether they would be able to trace all the stolen cellphones. In his response, he expressed hope that working with the police and MTN Eswatini, it would be easy to get his cellphones back. “As you can see, we are busy writing down the serial numbers for the stolen gadgets. If it needs us to pay money to a specialist who can assist, we will do so,” he said. Furthermore, he said he was hoping for the best regarding the stolen cellphones. “I trust my God that I will recover all the stolen cellphones,” he narrated. Upon arrival at shop yesterday, this reporter found the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) plain-clothes officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) conducting their own investigation. They were seen moving around the shop to check the vandalised roofing.
One of the police officers at the scene was approached and he could only confirm the break-in. “What I can say is that there was a break-in where an undisclosed number of cellphones where stolen,” said the CID police officer. When this journalist was allowed inside the shop, the top corner had a hole, supposedly used by the thief to gain entry. A few cellphones were found on display after the break-in. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the incident and said the shop owners were still not sure about the exact figure of the stolen items at the moment.
