OVER E4.5M WORTH DONATIONS FOR INCWALA
NGABEZWENI- EmaSwati have continued to show love and support for Incwala Ceremony, as they have made donations worth over E4.5 million for this year’s event.
The donated items were delivered to and received by His Majesty King Mswati III at Ngabezwewni Royal Residence yesterday. They included 170 cattle, groceries, clothing and money, all totalling over E4.5 million. The donations were made by companies and individual emaSwati. In his brief remarks, the King thanked emaSwati for their continued support for culture. The Monarch noted the increase in donations stating it showed growth of the country. “Bantfu sebakutsatsa kabi kwetfula kantsi kuyimphilo yemaSwati. Kwakuvele kukhona ngisho nasendvulo kute kutsi inkhosi ingadvonsi matima nakuhlangene sive emikhosini yelive,” the King said loosely translated to mean: “People misconstrue donations yet it is a way of life for emaSwati. Donations were there even in the ancient times so that the King does not struggle during big events.”
Worth noting, was that there was a drastic increase in the donated number of cattle compared to last year. The records pointed out that companies and individual emaSwati donated 170 cattle compared to 97 cattle which were donated last year. It should be noted that the donations are still pouring in. The donations took place on the fifth day of the ongoing Little Incwala, which had moved to Ngabezweni Royal Residence. The King is expected to move to the remaining royal residences until he reaches Buhleni Royal Residence. From Buhleni Royal Residence, the King will summon all regiments to Ngabezweni Royal Residence, in readiness for commissioning of Ingatja to fetch the sacred shrubs known as lusekwane and red leaves, imbondvo.
Opportunity
The young boys will be afforded an opportunity to show their bravery by killing a bull without using weapons. The main Incwala day will take place four days after the commissioning of Ingatja. It should be noted that the commissioning of the young boys will take place during the full moon, which is likely to be on January 6, 2023, according to Moon Giant. It is during the commissioning of the young boys that the Minister of Home Affairs will announce the Main Incwala Holiday. During the Main Incwala Ceremony, emaSwati assemble inside Ludzidzini Cattle Byre and celebrate the first fruits of harvest. The nation also thank God for peace and stability since the country gained its independence from Britain on September 6, 1968. From the Main Incwala, warriors proceed to the weeding of royal fields, which lasts until the dispersal of the regiment.
