MMEMA’S DAD: WE FEAR NOTHING, ENEMY TARGETED SON
MANZINI – We fear nothing!
Linda Mmema, the father to the deceased Deputy Secretary General (DSG) of the Swazis First Democratic Front (SFDF), Muzi Mmema, said they feared nothing as he supposed that those who killed his son were targeting him (Muzi), not them. Linda said there was nothing much they had done following the demise of their son as they believed in God. He said the family was of the view that the ‘enemy’ was targeting no other person other than Muzi. This, he said, when asked if the family was not living in fear following the abduction and subsequent killing of their son. The father said they feared nothing as they believed in God; who at this instance, had decided that it was time for Muzi to pass on.
Fearless
“We are fearless and sleep freely as we see the enemy solely wanted Muzi for his activeness,” the father said. He said the family was made aware that there was no suspect arrested by yesterday afternoon. Linda said members of the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) had visited them yesterday and informed them that they were still investigating. The senior citizen said they were relying on the police to inform them how their investigations would pan out as they did not want to suspect people without any proof of their involvement.
He said the deceased would be buried on January 8, 2023 following a vigil. Linda said his son would be buried at Ntondozi. He said the family was yet to plan on the logistics of the deceased’s memorial service.Meanwhile, the two people who were roped in to assist the police in the execution of Muzi have been released. The pair was taken to the Malkerns Police Station wherein they were engaged by police officers following the demise of the DSG.
Muzi was shot in the chest before being dumped in a forest near Sidvokodvo. Subsequent to the assassination, two people were taken into police custody to assist the police with their investigations. The pair has since been released from police custody and the investigation is said to be still open. According to sources, the two were released on the Wednesday afternoon after spending hours at the police station, wherein they were being questioned by the police officers.
It was said the genesis of them being roped in to assist the police followed that there were supposedly telephone recordings which contained threats towards the deceased. The pair were said to have been part of the people who had attended soccer games at Ntondozi Sports Ground on Tuesday.
Deputy Police Information and Communications Officer Inspector Nosipho Mnguni confirmed that there were no arrests following Muzi’s death. She said the pair that was assisting the police in their investigations was released.
