MBABANE – One of the teachers’ houses at KaBoyce High School caught fire and an electric fault was suspected to have been the cause.

The incident happened at around noon while classes were ongoing at the school. By the time this reporter arrived at the school, personnel from the Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services had been able to put out the flames, which had already damaged part of the house. The affected house is on the upper floor of a double-storey block. Only one of the rooms, being the bedroom, was greatly affected by the fire, as most items in it were reduced to ashes. The passage also caught  fire, as some items placed along it were also burnt. The bathroom, sitting room and the kitchen were spared. However, some items might have been damaged by the water used to put out the flames as they were soaked by the water which had been splashed all over the house.

Damaged

It was gathered that the fire might have affected the other house linked to the affected one, but the school Head teacher, Stephen Shabangu confirmed that one house was affected. It was gathered the other house might have had its roofing affected. Shabangu stated that police and fire and emergency personnel were still investigating the cause of the fire. When asked as to where was the teacher who occupied the house was when it caught fire, Shabangu said as far as he knew, all teachers were in their various workstations. One of the fire and emergency officers found within the school premises said they were still investigating.
