MBABANE – Convenor of the United Eswatini Diaspora (UED) Bonginkosi ‘IB’ Dlamini has written a letter to the President of South Africa (SA), Cyril Ramaphosa, requesting an investigation into allegations that certain SA citizens are involved in ‘mercenary’ activities in Eswatini.

In his letter, Dlamini said their organisation, the UED, was a non-profit organisation duly registered in, founded after the June and July 2021 unrest in Eswatini. He said their primary aim was to assist emaSwati to find lasting peace and democracy so that the country could develop and take care of its citizens. “We are committed to sustainable peace and democracy in the region,” he said.

In regard to their request, Dlamini said they were calling for the Hawks to investigate the relationship between these individuals and their companies with the Eswatini government, for allegedly training and providing military or security support to the Eswatini armed forces. Dlamini said it was in their humble opinion that the South African High commissioner in Eswatini would provide more information and help in the investigations.

In the letter, Dlamini said the UED and pro-democracy organisations inside Eswatini were also available to provide information that could help the investigation. Dlamini and his organisation would deliver the letter to the Department of the International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) today at the OR Tambo Building.
