MECHANIC FOUND DEAD AFTER ATTENDING CLIENT’S CAR

MBABANE - Mystery surrounds the death of a 64-year-old mechanic.

He was discovered dead shortly after he was called to assist the driver of a motor vehicle that was reportedly stuck outside his house. Information gathered was to the effect that Johannes Maduma Nkambule, who was popularly known as 10 Feet, was discovered dead by his daughter outside the gate. It is said that the daughter had gone to check on her father who had taken long to return to the house after he had left to attend to the caller.

“Nkambule was seated on this chair when he received a call. His wife enquired about the caller and Nkambule responded that it was one of his regular visitors before calling him by name. It turned out the caller had been working with Nkambule during the day. Nkambule told his wife that the caller wanted him to help him kick-start his motor vehicle which was stuck outside the house,” said a source close to the matter. The source stated that Nkambule’s wife suggested that her husband be accompanied by one of the children, as it was already dark.

However, the source stated that Nkambule opted to attend to the caller alone. The source shared that Nkambule did not return to the house, resulting in his daughter going to check on him. “The daughter returned to the house in full sprint with tears in her eyes. She reported that her father was dead and left the house. The daughter was found rolling near her father’s corpse outside the gate situated less than 100 metres from the house. It was not easy to remove her from the corpse because she had a strong bond with her father,” said the source. The source stated that Nkambule’s relatives and police were called. It is said that upon inspection, Nkambule’s belongings were found next to him. The belongings included a wallet and cellphone. There were no visible marks or injuries on his body.

Confused

“The family was left confused as nobody was available to answer on what might have happened to him. The family is banking its hope on a postmortem,” said the source.  The source stated that Nkambule was not on treatment for any illness. Nkambule’s sudden death was confirmed by his brother Thabo Nkambule, who said the family had nothing much to say as they had just received the disturbing news. He said the family was yet to meet concerning what had befallen them.

Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed a report of a 64-year-old man who was discovered dead outside the gate of his homestead, situated at Nyonyane in Ezulwini. Vilakati said police were investigating the circumstances that might have led to the occurrence.
