DON’T VOTE FOR TERRORISTS – PRINCE SIMELANE
MBABANE – Minister of Housing and Urban Development Prince Simelane has warned emaSwati against voting for terrorists.
The minister was speaking yesterday when addressing the media after registering to vote in the upcoming elections. He was among other ministers who registered at the cabinet offices yesterday. The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) had set up a registration centre for ministers and other government officials working around the cabinet Offices. EBC Communications Officer Mbonisi Bhembe said as a commission, they were bringing the registration service closer to the people as much as possible. Speaking after registering, Minister Prince Simelane encouraged emaSwati to register in numbers in order to exercise their right to vote. He said no one should infringe on anyone’s right to vote.
Coups
Prince Simelane said emaSwati should not vote for terrorists who may arise to plot coups against the country’s authorities. “Ubone mawukhetsa ungahambi ukhetsa emavukelambuso layovukelalive lena. Asikhutsate kutsi sive asiphangise siyobhalisa singaze semukeke live ngelite,” said the minister in vernacular. The minister said emaSwati should register in order not to regret whenever anything happenned. Other ministers who registered included the Minister of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), Princess Sikhanyiso, Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg and Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo.
The ministers encouraged emaSwati to continue registering to vote as that was every liSwati’s right. The Deputy Prime Minister, Themba Nhlanganiso Masuku, was among the first emaSwati to register last Thursday, which was the second day of registration. Registration continues countrywide until June 14. Inspection of the voters roll will be conducted from June 22 until July 12, whereas nomination of candidates will take place on July 22 or 23. Primary elections are scheduled for August 26 and then the secondary elections are set to take place on September 29.
