LISWATI WOMAN STABBED, THROWN INTO DITCH IN SA
MBABANE – A 21-year-old liSwati woman was stabbed and thrown into a ditch in Diepkloof, South Africa (SA), after an alleged misunderstanding with a male companion over money.
The woman has been identified as Vuyiswa Vilakati from Ntondozi. According to her uncle, Doctor Hlatshwako, Vuyiswa was killed on Sunday evening and discovered on Monday morning. Hlatshwako said his niece left the country last year. He said the family learnt about Vuyiswa’s passing through social media on Monday. “I noticed my niece on Facebook, whereby she was posted and there was a request for her relatives to respond,” he said. Hlatshwako said following the post, he called some women who were reportedly staying with Vuyiswa and they confirmed that she had passed away.
Wounds
He said the women told him that his niece was found dead with stab wounds in her body. When asked what Vuyiswa was doing in SA, Hlatshwako said when she left the country, she told them that she was going to work. He said most of the time, she was living with her mother at KaKhoza. Meanwhile, he said they had the desire to fetch Vuyiswa’s remains but were limited by financial resources. Hlatshwako appealed from members of the public to help them financially. Those willing to assist the family of the deceased can call Hlatshwako on 76057295.
Vuyiswa is not the first liSwati to be killed in SA. In most recent incidents, two other emaSwati were killed on Good Friday. Nathi Malindzisa, who was job-hunting, was shot dead after an argument over a table at a shisanyama place in Durban, South Africa. Malindzisa was shot behind the ear and his assailants were not arrested. Another liSwati, Mandla Shongwe, was also found dead at Ngodwane, Nelspruit.
