DO YOU WANT US TO PLAY GOD? - SENATORS
LOBAMBA -Senators, yesterday asked the members of the LGBTQI+ if they wanted members of the House to play God.
This was during the submissions by an organisation called TransSwati to Senate yesterday afternoon. Stakeholders who were in numbers made submissions in Senate, where they revealed that they were having trouble with acquiring national documents, in the ministry of Home Affairs.
“It is difficult for us to get national documents as the officials refuse to continue with the application process as they claim that they cannot issue an ID or a passport to a person who is a female who has a name of a boy,” said one of the stakeholders.
The stakeholders further said they were having difficulty in passing through the country’s border gates as the immigration officials refused passage as a result of judgment by appearance. The stakeholders explained that they were moving for the amendment in the Civil Registration Vital Statistics Bill of 2022, where they would be allowed to have their original names which were given by their parents at birth to be changed as it was giving them troubles wherever they want.
Senator Princess Ntfombiyenkhosi first acknowledged the respect and the humility the stakeholders portrayed in the House.“I am astounded by your respect and it shows that you have been raised well by your parents, but my children as your realise that we are old enough to be you elders. I have heard your submissions but I just want to know from you if you want us senators to play God and grant you your wishes?” queried the senator.
