EX-MINISTER SIBUSISO SHONGWE JOINS TSC
MANZINI - Former Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Sibusiso Bonginkosi Shongwe has been appointed as a member of the Teaching Service Commission (TSC).
Shongwe, who was a Cabinet minister for about two years, was appointed into the Dr Amos Mahlalela-led TSC with KaLanga Chief Jozane Sifiso Maziya. They were appointed by His Majesty King Mswati III through exercising powers vested in him by Section 173 of the Constitution of Eswatini, 2005. The monarch, through Legal Notice No. 121 of 2023, appointed Shongwe and Maziya for a period not exceeding four years. The gazette, which His Majesty King Mswati III signed at Lozithehlezi, on June 1, 2023, further extended the term of office for two members of the TSC. “The term of office for Nkosilenhle Reginald Masuku and Dumisile Sigwane is extended with effect from April 13, 2023 for a period not exceeding four years,” reads the gazette in part. The TSC has four members and their chairperson.
Adjustment
As per a gazette incorporating the cost-of-living adjustment (CoLA) for Boards and commissions, Shongwe, who is a seasoned lawyer and the three other members of the TSC, shall earn a monthly basic salary of E49 139.33. The members of the TSC also get a housing allowance, which is 10 per cent of their basic salary, E105 000 per year as car allowance and 100 per cent medical aid cover. They also have their utilities catered for with an allowance equivalent to three per cent of their basic salary and also enjoy a communication allowance of E1 000 per month.
