COUNCIL VOWS TO CLOSE DILAPIDATED COURT TODAY

NHLANGANO - Shiselweni Magistrates Court has still not been renovated, 14 days after a notice from Nhlangano Town Council.

The Shiselweni Magistrates Court was declared a hazard by the town council as it is falling apart and also has dysfunctional restrooms.  
The building does not have water supply, something that was viewed as a risk for the spread of diseases, because the court is used by many people on a daily basis. The Nhlangano Town Council wrote a letter giving the court authorities a period of 14 days to make reparations to the broken toilets.
However, by yesterday, there had not been any action taken.

Assess

In fact, after the letter was issued, a team from the High Court was sent to Nhlangano to assess the damage over two weeks ago. Yesterday, this publication went to check the court building just before end of business and the situation was still the same as 14 days ago.Inspectors from Nhlangano Town Council also went to see if there were any changes. In an interview with Senior Public Health and Environmental Officer Mpendulo Mdluli, he said the next step was to close the building and stop employees and citizens from accessing services from it. He stated that they were going to head to the buiding this morning to inspect and facilitate same. Meanwhile, a comment could not be sought from High Court Registrar Nosipho Mazibuko as she had not responded to a questionnaire sent to her on the same matter.
