SITEKI – Ward 4 winner under the Siteki Town Council Local Government Elections, Bongi Tsabedze, who has bounced back, has thanked his supporters for voting him in again despite that he was a person with a disability.

Tsabedze (38), won with 168 votes to beat his second-placed contender Mfanfikile Mashaba, who recorded 138 votes while finishing on 14 votes in third place was Phiwayinkosi Kunene.
The councillors will be in office for five years. Worth mentioning is that Ward 5 residents voted yesterday after the ward experienced a shortage of ballot papers on Saturday. In Ward 1’s Buyisakuthula Matsenjwa (30) scored 81 votes while Mkhosi Mngometulu recorded 69 votes and Patricia Simelane-Mdluli came third with 18 votes. In Ward 2, Bongisipho Dlamini (36) won with 40 votes to beat second-placed Richard Mavimbela on 27 votes, while Sipho Dludlu recorded 15 votes to finish in third place. In Ward 3’s Simphiwe Dlamini (38) recorded 56 votes to win and Bheki Ndzimandze got 45 votes to finish in second place while Sibusiso Mazibuko finished in third place with 21 votes. In Ward 4, Musa Simango (37) won with 92 votes and Sibusiso Matsenjwa got 67 votes, while Lihle Luhlanga recorded 35 votes to finish in third place.

Overwhelmed

“I am so overwhelmed with joy that the residents of Ward 4 have been educated that people with disabilities have the ability and brains to contribute to the development and improvement of their lives. As a God-fearing person, I would like to thank the people of Ward 4 for trusting me again to be their representative,” he said. Tsabedze shared that he had unfinished business to contribute towards developing the town and the livelihoods of the people of Siteki as well as ensuring that job opportunities were created for the youth.  “I will continue to work with the committees overseeing development initiatives in my ward and also to meet the youth on how best they can share ideas that could ensure that they come up with income generating projects to improve their livelihoods,” Tsabedze said.

Ward 5 winner Musa Simango promised to work on improving the policies of the town in ensuring that they benefited the people of Siteki. Simango said he was focusing on improving the lives of the people of his ward and initiate development projects that would include creating job opportunities for the youth. “I am optimistic that more good things are on the way as we have to work collectively to achieve great results,” he said. However, Ward 3 winner, Simphiwe Dlamini, said even though resources were scarce, his primary objective was to ensure the incorporation of the youth in the town’s policies so that they could benefit immensely in development initiatives implemented by the council.
