INYANGA ‘DR MKHULU’ HELD FOR RAPE IN SA
MBABANE – Renowned for the alleged capture of incarcerated self-confessed ‘commander’ of the Swaziland Solidarity Forces, Thabo Kunene and his co-accused Sibusiso Nkomonye, traditional healer Andile Nkomonye has been charged with rape.
Andile, popuparly known as ‘Dr Mkhulu’, appeared at the Rustenburg Magistrates Court yesterday, facing a charge of rape and was remanded in custody until August 1, 2023 for the hearing and determination of his bail. The court process is said to have lasted hardly five minutes. He was arrested on Saturday by the Boitekong police in Rustenburg. Details pertaining to the alleged rape could not be obtained at the time of going to print.

Present during ‘Dr Mkhulu’s court appearance were some members of the country’s political formations, including Swaziland Liberation Movement (SWALIMO), United Eswatini Diaspora (UED) and People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO). Others were EFF Swaziland and Lubumbano Lwenkhululeko yemaSwati. UED Convenor Bonginkosi ‘IB’ Dlamini said they were at the court premises to assist South African Police Services (SAPS) investigation officers, who were working on another case involving ‘Dr Mkhulu’. Dlamini stated that they had been engaging with SAPS to arrest the traditional healer on his involvement in the capture of Kunene and his co-accused and had done everything required of them to provide the necessary information.
He said all along, they wanted information on where ‘Dr Mkhulu’ lived as they had no idea as requested by the investigating team. The UED convenor said they had been informed that ‘Dr Mkhulu’ was in Mozambique and recently in Botswana. This, he said, worried them as they were of the idea that the investigation could take long. “God has handed him to us on a silver platter, making our job easy following his arrest,” said Dlamini. He said the moment they heard that he was arrested, they informed the investigating team who were also present during his court appearance. Dlamini said they were happy about the arrest as they had not been sleeping well ever since Kunene was arrested in Eswatini but would now sleep peacefully.
