MBABANE – The 2023 General Elections results for the primary elections, which were released by the various polling stations yesterday, are likely to change.

This follows that some of the polling stations did not include the votes from diaspora, inmates and special voting. Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) Communications Officer Mbonisi Bhembe revealed that there could be a turnaround in some of the votes and winners might have been quick to celebrate.

Consolidating

Bhembe said they were currently in the process of consolidating the results. He said the three sets of results; diaspora, special votes and inmates, were not included by some elections officers following the voting process on Saturday. “We actually want to put this on record before things turn nasty,” said Bhembe. However, he said this did not mean that all candidates did not receive their diaspora, inmates and special votes. He said it did not mean issued results were not authentic, but there were those whose other votes from the three pots were not included. Such, he said, could change the results altogether when they are included and tallied up. Bhembe said they would be releasing the results soon and a press conference would be announced in this regard. Furthermore, he congratulated the nation for the successful elections over the weekend.
