NOMPILO PASSES ON
MBABANE – Cystic fibrosis fighter Nompilo Dlamini has passed on.
This was confirmed by her mother Jabu Fakudze yesterday evening, shortly after her demise. Fakudze said her daughter took her last breath at around 6pm. She said Nompilo had no complications except the usual pains but was fine when the incident happened. “Mpilo was fine when she went to sleep. We do not know what really happened,” said the sobbing Fakudze.
She said her child looked peaceful as she lay on her bed.
Transplant
In a bid to save her life, E1 million was raised for her lung transplant in India, which she ended up not undergoing. Last year, while in India, Nompilo sent shockwaves when she revealed that she was now tired of fighting and would no longer be taking medication. She said she was ready to accept death. Nompilo was at the end stage of the cystic fibrosis, which is explained by the United Kingdom’s Cystic Foundation as an inherited condition that causes sticky mucus to build-up in the lungs and digestive system. This causes lung infections and problems with digesting food.
