PM WARNS FESBC, THOSE ALLEGING KING KILLED THULANI MASEKO
MBABANE – Government has ordered FESBC to dissociate itself from proscribed entities and desist from confrontation with other businesses.
The stern warning was issued during a meeting that the Prime Minister (PM), Russell Dlamini, held with the leadership of the Federation of the Eswatini Business Community (FESBC).
In a statement issued by the PM yesterday, he stated that government had taken note of what appeared to be a campaign by the leadership of FESBC, which was to bring discord and confusion within the business community. For that reason, the premier said government invited FESBC to a private meeting held at Cabinet Offices yesterday, where they presented their objectives and modus operandi as an organisation.
Advised
“FESBC was advised to focus on their business objectives, which are basically to empower local businesses. FESBC was strongly advised to desist from confrontation with other businesses, but to seek peaceful redress through relevant institutions and following laid down procedure. “The business federation was sternly warned to disassociate itself from violent proscribed institutions,” he said.
Meeting
The PM added that it was made clear to FESBC during the meeting, that that elements that potentially threatened investors, peace and to destabilise the country and negatively impact on the economy would not be tolerated. “Government is ready and prepared to take stern measures,” said the premier. He also urged the nation, on behalf of His Majesty’s Government, to continue to stand up and fight against any elements that seek to disturb the country’s hard-earned peace and stability. In the statement, the PM communicated that FESBC agreed that they would work with government in this regard and allayed any fears that they were part of proscribed entities. Efforts to get FESBC’s response on the matter were futile as the Head of Business Strategy, Mavela Sigwane had not responded to questions sent to him. A phone call was made to him, but was quickly disconnected. A WhatsApp message was also sent at 6:45pm but had not been responded to at the time this report was compiled.
