MELIKA JERICHO CHURCH MEMBERS WARNED

GEGE - “Do not ever think that Melika Jericho Church in Zion will be controlled by your gifts of healing.”

This was a warning directed to those with the gift of healing in the church. Addressing thousands of members of the church ahead of a cleansing ceremony held at Gege yesterday, Melika Jericho Church in Zion Bishop Khanyakwezwe Vilakati warned those with the gift of healing to keep it to themselves as opposed to bringing it to the church. The man of God said the church was not dependent on the gifts but was controlled in Heaven. “Nine betiphiwo tekwelapha gcinani tiphiwo tenu kini ningatiletsi lapha esontfweni. Gifts

What the man of God said is loosely translated to mean: “Those with the gift of healing should keep it to themselves as opposed to bringing it to the church. If you think the church is dependent on your gifts, you are mistaken. This church is controlled in Heaven.” He said bringing the gift of healing to the church would lure people into believing that the church believed in the gift, yet it believed in God in Heaven. It should be noted that some members of the church boast about snakes in their cars. The bishop said he had no relationship with snakes, stating that those with snakes should keep it to themselves.

Warned

He also warned the members of the church against misleading congregants in the name of prophecies. He urged the congregants to differentiate between prophecies directed to individuals and those directed to the church. “If the angels direct you to put on a baboon skin, make sure you do it yourself as opposed to inviting the church to put on the skins,” he said. Some members were heard saying; “Yeyi, iyakhuluma lendvodza.” The bishop said the rules and regulations of the church were not new. He said members needed to listen to the elders and adhere to the rules. He made an example about a special offering known as mandishana, stating that some churches had discarded the offerings, which were considered a source of blessings. He said one thing that kept bothering him was why God chose him to lead the church.

“I have taken it upon myself to fast and pray ahead of any event. The only solution is in Heaven, so mine is to connect to the angels so that God can give me guidance and solutions. As I prayed for this event, the founder of the church Melika Gadlasenyama lesagicika emcwembeni appeared to me in a dream. He said God’s blessings are reigning over the Manganganeni River. He said your life challenges will be solved through clean water from the river. We have prepared a pipe for the clean water. Yours is to bring containers and take the clean water home,” he said. To those seeking jobs, the bishop urged them to wait patiently as they were being prepared for the best. The bishop then warned the congregants against shoving as they proceeded to the sacred dam.

He said the church police were deployed to ensure safety. The bishop said elders of the church were prepared to cleanse them all. He said the elders would rather spend another night other than leaving the congregants uncleansed. “We may even slaughter more cattle to ensure that you are all cleansed. We urge those who have been hired to transport the congregants not to rush them,” he said. However, despite the bishop’s warning, the members of the church failed to control themselves shortly after they saw the bishop proceeding to the river. The elders and the police of the church tried in vain to stop the congregants as they rushed for the cleansing. The congregants got into the river even before the cleansing of the Vilakati family. Some congregants scrambled for the clean water while others opted for the water fetched from the river. They also scrambled for the braai meat from the cow that was slaughtered next to the river.
