MANZINI – In a shocking and tragic incident, a member of the K9 gang at Mbhuleni was assaulted and killed by a group of men, allegedly sent by his boss.

The attack took place at KaGcina, Sigodvweni on Friday night, and the deceased suffered multiple stab wounds. The name of the deceased is known to this publication but cannot be published because his family could not be drawn for comment at the time of compiling this report. It is alleged that there was once a conflict between the deceased and his boss, and the incident may be connected to the member’s killing gang. The incident is currently under investigation and the police have arrested two people who have been charged in connection with the murder case.

According to sources, the deceased had a squabble with the K9 gang boss in November last year, which turned into a physical fight, leading to both parties stabbing each other. It was further revealed that they both sustained injuries, where the deceased was admitted to hospital for a week, and the boss for two weeks. It was further disclosed that both the deceased and the K9 gang boss supposedly smoked the peace pipe, as they would be seen socialising.

Organised

However, it was not until Friday, that the boss allegedly organised his members to tail the deceased and identify his whereabouts. He was said to have been spotted at KaGcina, a local drinking spot, where he was reportedly enjoying alcoholic beverages. “The nine members of the gang waited until the premises were closed. On his way back home, they caught up with him and attacked him, where they stabbed him,” the sources narrated. They further revealed that seven of the gang members fled while two remained to see that he was indeed dead. It was disclosed that when they realised that he was still breathing, they then took a knife which they used to slit his throat. It was then that he reportedly succumbed to his injuries and the men fled.

Meanwhile, Deputy Police Information and Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Nosipho Mnguni confirmed the arrest of a 19-year-old man of Mbekelweni and a 29-year-old man of Mbhuleni. She said the pair was charged in connection with the murder of a 31-year-old man of Siphofaneni, who died after being stabbed several times all over the body with a sharp object at Sigodvweni. Mnguni revealed that the arrests were made on Sunday at around 2:20pm. In another incident, the deputy police spokesperson  revealed that a 45-year-old man of Montigny was discovered dead with a wound on the scalp, as well as a fracture on the right arm while at Alpha Six Mhlambanyatsi Montigny forest on Sunday.
