MBABANE – “They have been, and still, living together, including engaging in repeated sexual intercourse in the church compound in Matsapha.”

hese allegations were made by the first wife of Liqoqo member Vusumuzi ‘Major V’ Dlamini. The first wife, Simangele Portia Hlophe, has since instituted divorce proceedings against the clergyman. She is, among other things, accusing him of having committed adultery and deserting her.
This is happening hardly 11 days after Dlamini introduced his second wife, Lwazi Mhlanga, to his church and the public.

Congratulating

The introduction of Dlamini’s second wife sparked a social media frenzy, with some congratulating him while others disapproved of the marriage. Dlamini, who is also the founder of Mountain of Salvation Church, was served with the divorce papers yesterday.
In her particulars of claim, Hlophe stated that Dlamini married her in terms of civil rites and in community of property. She said the marriage was solemnised on June 18, 2011, at Mangcongo.
According to Hlophe, the marriage still subsists and three children were born from the union. Hlophe narrated to the court that after soleminising the marriage, they established their matrimonial home along the Matsapha Airport Road and that was where she was currently staying.
“As a result of a series of marital differences caused and committed by the defendant (Dlamini) in the marriage, he caused the normal marital life to be intolerable and unbearable to me and he left me with no option but to file for divorce,” submitted Hlophe.

She averred that in an extremely and disrespectful manner towards her, Dlamini recently married another woman named Lwazi Mhlanga of Ndzevane through Eswatini Law and Custom (kuteka).

She informed the court that the marriage between Dlamini and Lwazi was held at Sihhoye at his (Dlamini) grandmother’s home. “As if that act of marrying Lwazi Mhlanga was not enough, the defendant (Dlamini) went further to repeatedly flaunt his new wife all over social media, including on Facebook and YouTube. He pretended as if nothing was illegal and/or wrong about this conduct,” submitted Hlophe.
She brought it to the court’s attention that Dlamini’s act had humiliated her and continued to do so. “He has committed adulterly with the very same Lwazi Mhlanga and I discovered that they had been, and still are, living and sleeping together, including engaging in repeated sexual intercourse, at the defendant’s church compound in Matsapha, where the defendant has sleeping rooms within the church premises,” submitted Hlophe.

Adultery

The plaintiff (Hlophe) submitted that she had discovered that the adultery allegedly committed by Dlamini and Mhlanga started way back in June 2023, at the time when Dlamini deserted her at their matrimonial home, to live with Mhlanga in a room situated within the church compound at KaHlobile in Matsapha.
She said she did not condone the adultery, which she considered to be an intentional and calculated act by Dlamini, aimed at dissolving the marriage. Hlophe argued that her husband’s conduct and the alleged adultery were intolerable and unbearable.
She informed the court that her husband’s conduct had destroyed her trust and confidence in Dlamini and in the marriage relationship. Hlophe informed the court that Dlamini had further maliciously deserted and deprived her of conjugal rights and sexual privileges, in that he reportedly packed his clothing and other household goods and left their matrimonial home. These are allegations contained in particulars of claim, whose veracity is still to be tested in court and the defendant is yet to indicate if he is opposing the matter or not.
Hlophe alleged that her husband left her on June 5, 2023, and never returned to live with her and the children, as a husband and father. “The defendant has continuously, since August 2023, deprived me of conjugal rights, including sexual privileges. The defendant, when committing the malicious desertion and deprivation of conjugal rights, had and still has the settled intention of bringing the marriage and normal marital life between us to an end. He even married another woman by the name of Nolwazi Mhlanga while our civil rites marriage subsists,” submitted Hlophe.

Support
In the event the court grants the final decree of divorce, Hlophe prayed, Dlamini should be ordered to continue maintaining their children as she was currently unemployed and struggling to support them single-handed. She asked to be granted custody of the children and that her husband should be allowed visitation rights at intervals to be decided by the court. Hlophe wants Dlamini to forfeit all matrimonial property and privileges, arising from their marriage and which fell within the estate.
It is further her plea to the court that Dlamini should be ordered and directed to contribute monthly payment towards maintenance of the children including school fees and other related expenses.
The matter is still pending in court and appearing for the plaintiff are lawyers from SM Simelane and Company in Mbabane.
