K9 GANG FOUNDER TELLS ALL; DAYS OF MURDER, ROBBERIES
MBHULENI – Founder of Mbhuleni troublesome K9 gang Wally Pereira, now a man of God, is not afraid to confess his past sins to the world.
Speaking to the Eswatini News on Monday morning at his home area, Mbhuleni in Matsapha, the evidently repented Pereira revealed that during church services and his weekly visits to schools around Matsapha, he has not found any shame in confessing his involvement in murder and robbery activities during his time as leader of the K9 gang. He further told this publication that the murder cases mostly had to do with gang wars, pointing out that his group specialised in armed robberies. “During my time there, K9’s objective was robberies, including muggings, and members were dominated by those with the 26 signature. The rule for those subscribing to that number is committing crimes without spilling blood. Unfortunately, there are other gang groups in action on the same mission and jealousy would creep in most of the time. That is where most murder cases would then come, because there are stabbings involved in territorial battle or power in the gangsterism culture,” he said.
Grace
He was quick to state, however, that, through God’s grace, those hands have been cleansed and blessed by the heavens. He proudly declared that: “I am using those very hands to pray and change the lives of many people in Matsapha and church every day. I am a reborn person. That is why those same hands are delivering people now and there are a lot of testimonies to prove that in my church.” He emphasised that the old Pereira was dead and buried; pointing out that he was now removing demons from people, through the power of God.
“In the past, I used to consult traditional healers (tinyanga) to get muti for robberies and other crimes, but now I am blessed with the power of God to enlighten people about the evil things that were cast in my life. I have a new purpose in life now. In 2020, Jesus Christ was born in my flesh and this created a new version of me,” he proudly said. The 28-year-old God-fearing man, said he was not even afraid to display his tattoos out in the open, even when preaching during church services. “Even if I would be buried with those tattoos, I would not care less. It was rubbed off in God’s eyes, but of course, with the naked eye, people will still see it. These are the things I always preach against in church, including drugs and wayward behaviour because they are associated with gangsterism.”
Pereira, a qualified mechanic, said his objective was to instil God’s teachings in the lives of people, stressing that things like gang numbers were all acts of the darkness (devil). “I am trying to build a new temple of God by moving people away from the darkness and into the light. I have now dedicated my life to God. That is why God said I must start at grade 1 (Sunday school), move to Grade 7, then Form 1 before completing form 5, where I would be dealing with serious gangsterism matters,” he said.
Successful
He further claimed to have been successful in delivering a number of his former gang members, who now frequent church services. “Most of the repented gang members are the youth from the 26 signature. In some of the schools I am visiting, some of the pupils have come up to request my help, to move away from the gangsterism practices. I do not expect any reward from a living person, but the man above.” He said he was aware that a lot of people were sceptical of his devotion to Jesus Christ, stating that some people wanted God’s things, but not God. “As I told you before, Wally died and Jesus Christ was awoken. The body is Wally but the soul is Jesus.
“That is why when I make my presentations in schools, I always confess that I killed or did other crimes in the past. “I am not afraid of anything. Even in church when I deliver my testimony, I confess all the evil things I did before. After that, I then focus on teachings, when I talk about the different types of evil spirits.” He said a lot of people did not understand God as they focus on what he termed ‘useless things’. He believes that he is destined for greater things in the life of God. “I will receive a lot of blessings. My life now is about praying and fasting, nothing else. When I am not in church, I hold prayer services in my room with the youth in my area on a daily basis.
“There are days where I go the mountains to pray, but when in the room, I have bible studies,” he said. He said reading the Bible would help him gain more wisdom, so, that he preach about trust, through the different scriptures when visiting schools. “I am protected by the fire of God now, because wherever I go, I am respected as a pastor, not a gangster. People appreciate the change in my life.”Asked to explain how he came up with the K9 name when forming the gang, Pereira said it was inspired by different things. “K stood for king because that was my position, while the 9 was the number of years I had signed with the devil to lead the gang. The 9 was also dedication to the number of months I spent in my mother’s womb before birth. Also, jersey 9 was my favourite when I was still playing football,” he said.
Declared
However, Pereira declared that after turning his life to God, he also transformed the K9 gang name to K9 Kingdom of God. “This is the name of my church and through God’s grace; I am hoping to have its structure built soon, funds permitting. “My dream is to ensure that 10 years from now, people would look at me and say, there is the founder of K9 Kingdom of God, where your child gets deliverance from things like drugs and many more. Whatever unruly behaviour your child is going through, bring him to Pastor Pereira and he or she will get help.
“ The praying period is three months and after that, your child would be healed physically, mentally, spiritually and financially. The child would have to go with me to the mountains for prayer, attend bible sessions and church services.”
