MBABANE – Government has confirmed to have sold one of its properties to former PS, Clifford Mamba.

It has been confirmed that the house situated near St Mark’s cost around E2.7 million. This was confirmed by the Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Dr Simon Zwane. During an interview, Dr Zwane was asked why Mamba still occupied the house and he said everything had been done following all due processes, adding that the valuation was conducted before the structure and land were sold. He said the ministry also had documents that Mamba occupied the house legally. He said Mamba paid, as expected, around five per cent of the total value. Dr Zwane said the house was registered in Mamba’s name, as the rightful owner.

Disposing

The PS said all processes of disposing of land and property were followed to the end. Reached for comment, Mamba said he legally owned the house. He said all processes were done by the competent government authorities. Responding to the questions about how he was still occupying a house allocated for government employees, he said the house was his and he had documents to that effect. These documents, he said, were signed by the rightful people, adding that an offer was made and it was accepted.  Mamba said if the ownership could be challenged in court, he would win it.He challenged the people spreading lies to submit proof of what they were talking about, adding that in his possession were supporting documents on his ownership of the house.  Mamba said; “I have been a law-abiding citizen for 32 years and it cannot be that I could do something that is illegal.”

Evicted

He said he had never been evicted by the Ministry of Public Service, which has not even taken legal action that someone was occupying their house illegally. “I am just wondering why people continued to plot such kind of stories that are not true,” he said. Mamba said the house was not given to him as a gift, but he bought it or was still paying for it. “I have heard some people saying that my house is a gift. That is not true and why me?” He said some people even went as far as describing features of the house in that there was a jacuzzi and swimming pool, which had never been there.  The former PS said he also wished there was a pool but wondered where all this was coming from.  Mamba said he had never seen a single house owned by government that had a swimming pool.
