EX-SENATOR THANDI MAZIYA PASSES ON IN SA
MBABANE – Former senator and businesswoman Thandi Maziya has passed on.
Maziya, who was recently appointed the Chairperson of the Land Management Board by His Majesty King Mswati III, died while undergoing treatment in South Africa (SA) on Saturday.
Her passing was confirmed by Prince Mbuyisa, who was the late chairperson’s colleague in the Land Management Board. In an interview with this publication, Prince Mbuyisa stated that he was heartbroken by the passing away of his cousin, with whom he was very close. He said Maziya had been ill for a while and had gone to SA for a medical check-up following an operation on her backbone. The prince said he was hurt and disturbed by the death of Maziya. He said he was not expecting that Maziya could pass so soon, adding that she was still teaching him to adapt to their job.

According to the prince, they have lost a valuable member as the Land Management Board and were at a loss for words on what they would do. He said the Board had started work already and following her sickness, they were nursing hopes that she would return. Another family member who preferred remaining anonymous also confirmed the passing on of Maziya. He stated that she had left for South Africa in the company of her driver. The family member had engaged with the driver to contact him should anything happen to her as if she premeditated her death. The relative added that the family was due to meet for purposes of making funeral arrangements.
