‘GAWUZELA’ ADDRESSES CONGREGANTS, THANKS BISHOP
MBABANE – The Swaziland Liberation Movement (SWALIMO) President, Mduduzi ‘Gawuzela’ Simelane, virtually addressed congregants who came to celebrate the life of Zanele Mbokazi.
This was during yesterday service which was held at the Ambassadors House Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, who was married to Zanele. Zanele died after battling lung cancer and was buried in Durban, South Africa (SA) in early August.Simelane, who constantly addressed the bishop during the live video, thanked the church for having allowed political organisations to attend the service to celebrate the life of Zanele. The president said it was an emotional moment to address the bishop after his loss.
He said he would not talk much about how great Zanele was and what role she played in standing with them.
Temporary
Simelane said in his life, he had learnt that all moments, no matter how precious they may be, are temporary, but the footprints left on those moments have the potential to be permanent or live longer. He said people’s signatures have a chance to live beyond the moments. He said he had come to realise that it would not be of any help for him to try and be relevant to change today, not knowing that there will ever be another chance to speak about the bishop from the heart.Simelane said his moment in this life is to live like a wild animal, which is always hunted. “I do not want to regret why I have not spoken my heart about you bishop.”
He said reality had taught him that all moments were temporary. The president said in the Book of Proverbs 31 verses 8 and 9, it reads: “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly, defend the rights of the poor and needy.” Simelane added that whoever wrote the Word had the name of Bishop Nkambule in their mind and understood him well. He said he salutes the bishop, not on behalf of himself but on behalf of emaSwati who were shot, that nobody talked about how they died. Simelane said it was not easy for the bishop to stand for the truth but he did so, knowing very well what would follow, hence he was not shocked to learn that Nkambule was not safe.
He said: “We as the people of Eswatini will never forget you bishop.” Simelane stated that the books of history for the country will never forget him and in the fullness of time a monument of Nkambule will be mounted in one of the places in Eswatini. This, he said, would be solely for standing for the truth no matter the challenges and standing for God even in times when the church was distancing itself and did not want to be associated with Nkambule. Simelane said he was aware that the day was to celebrate the life of Zanele, but his spirit had directed that he talked about Nkambule.
