ZUMA’S DAUGHTER FILLED WITH ADMIRATION AS KING DOES KUDLALISELA
MBANGWENI – Former South Africa President and Umkhonto Wesizwe leader Jacob Zuma’s daughter, Nomcebo, was filled with admiration as the King appreciated the maidens.
Nomcebo, who was adorned with emagwalagwala, was seen smiling as the King bowed in appreciation of Sigodlo at the formations. Unlike during the first leg of the event AT Ludzidzini Royal Residence, where the media was ordered to move away from Liphovela, media was allowed to capture the moment. Culturally, emagwalagwala - red feathers - are only reserved for royalty in Eswatini. Also, the red feathers are donned by any person joining the royal family through marriage. Worth noting is that towards the end of the event, the commentators appreciated the dances from Bayes’khulu LaZuma stating that she danced like someone born and raised in the country.
Culturally, Bayes’khulu refer members of the royalty. Asked about the sentiment, traditionalists said Bayes’khulu menans an element of royalty. Some said “sekungangeNgwenyama.”
It should be noted that Nomcebo has maintained her confidence since she joined the maidens at the first leg of the annual Reed Dance. She also proved her bravery and left the audiance wanting more of her dances when she joined Inkhosatana Yembali Princess Sakhizwe when rendering a solo dance kugiya. The commentators also appreciated the solo dances from Inkhosatana Yembali Princess Sakhizwe and other princess. They appreciated the Longotjeni (they young maidens) for their dance.
