MONENI – In yet another case of murder reported in Manzini, a man was stabbed to death purportedly by his girlfriend at Moneni, for demanding sex.

The murder happened on Saturday afternoon at a particular homestead, when Mphumelelo ‘Jozini’ Ndzinisa (33) was stabbed to death, allegedly by his 32-year-old girlfriend, following an argument over a sexual encounter.
The argument, which supposedly began during a drinking session at a local spot, escalated when the deceased reportedly turned violent and hacked his partner before fleeing to a nearby homestead.

Tragically, the man died. Moneni is a densely populated township in the outskirts of Manzini, which is notorious for violent crimes. It was gathered that before the woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, he had hit her in the head.
The woman reportedly stabbed her boyfriend at a homestead situated a few steps away from his own. It was also gathered that the deceased had terrorised family members at the homestead where he was stabbed.

Comment

The boyfriend told this publication that it was too early for him to comment. According to a family member, who chose to remain anonymous, it was in the afternoon when they saw the suspect and the deceased standing together. After a while, the source claimed she heard noises from outside. “The deceased assaulted the suspect with a bush knife on the head after he demanded sex and she refused. She ran into one of the houses to hide from him,” the source alleged.

However, the family member narrated that the deceased, Ndzinisa, continued to pursue the suspect, with the intention to assault her. The relative recalled that he attempted to force his way into the house, which irked the family members at the homestead, who tried to reason with him.

It was disclosed that one of the family members used a spanner to scare him off, but he persisted. Unbeknown to them, the relative revealed that the woman emerged with a knife, which she used to stab Ndzinisa once in the neck.  The source stated that the man quickly rushed to his home, just a few metres away from the homestead, and he is said to have collapsed and died.

Meanwhile, a visit to the woman’s homestead, about 100 metres from the incident, found her close family members in a sombre mood. The woman’s mother declined to comment. However, a family member, who requested to remain anonymous, alleged that the deceased had been a problem in the area.

“We are disheartened by the passing of the deceased, but we cannot ignore that he was a menace to most residents in the area. We can confirm that he was in a relationship with the suspect, but they broke up several times, only for him to lure her back with money he accumulated from his misdeeds,” he alleged.

The family member suggested that the woman was trapped in an abusive cycle with the deceased. The relative also disclosed that this time, the suspect had refused to engage with him sexually, which led to the deceased attacking her with a bush knife. The relative also revealed that one of their own had sustained an injury to the head after allegedly being attacked by the deceased during a robbery.

The relative further disclosed that Ndzinisa had previously been incarcerated for crimes of robbery and armed robbery. He is said to have stolen mobile phones, money and possessions from people both locally and in town.
Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Chief Police Information and Communications Officer, confirmed that a 33-year-old man from Moneni was fatally stabbed in the left collarbone with a sharp object on Saturday, leading to his death. Vilakati said the police swiftly took action and arrested the suspect.

The 32-year-old suspect has been charged with murder and will appear at the Manzini Magistrates Court today. This incident adds to the growing list of cases of violence in the Manzini Region. In a recent report by this publication, a woman lost her life after being shot while her boyfriend valiantly tried to fend off two assailants during an attempted robbery about a fortnight ago.

Hlengiwe Nxumalo (30), who was a hairdresser from Siphambanweni, tragically lost her life after being shot in the left eye at Mbhuleni in the early hours of last Saturday. The couple, who had just alighted from their vehicle, was accosted by two men, who reportedly attempted to rob them of their cellphones, leading to a fatal altercation. This happened last weekend.
