MBABANE -  Senator Chief Gcokoma has passed on.

The senator, who is a member of the royal family, reportedly passed away while admitted to a local private hospital in Manzini yesterday. He was among the 10 senators who are appointed by the King. The confirmation of his death was made by Phuzukuvela Dlamini yesterday. He stated: “Cha Nkhosi ingiyo Dlamini mane silikhaya sisengakabiki emakhosini. Kute lokuningi lesingakusho kwanyalo.”

Loosely translated to mean; it is true that the prince has passed on but further details of his death cannot be revealed yet as Their Majesties have not been formally informed. Prince Gcokoma has been actively involved in numerous public offices, including being a regional administrator as well as being appointed to the Land Management Board. He was once minister of Home Affairs.

The late Prince Gcokoma first worked as Regional Officer (RO) before he was promoted to be a Regional Secretary. The late Gccokoma is said to have also worked in Pigg’s Peak in the Hhohho Region under the Regional Administrator, where he worked closely with Ben Sibandze. He was the first Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development, which was under the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office at that time.
