MLUNGISI POISONING: SUSPECT ONCE SENT TO KILL ME - ‘MAJOR V’
MBABANE - The man associated with the poisoning of PUDEMO President Mlungisi Makhanya is also alleged to have been once sent to assassinate Prophet Vusumuzi ‘Major V’ Dlamini.
According to Dlamini, the man, who he did not refer to by name, allegedly confessed that he had been tasked with killing him, but chose not to out of respect for his position as a man of the cloth. Dlamini made these remarks on Channel YemaSwati programme called ‘People and Places,’ which aired last Thursday. It is common cause that the man who recently confessed to poisoning Makhanya is Sifiso Innocent Mahlangu. When called yesterday, Dlamini confirmed that the man called him last week.
Wanted
However, Dlamini could not give details of the alleged call when sought for comment yesterday, as he said he was busy with church activities. This publication wanted to find out from Dlamini why he was saying said the caller was Mahlangu. This publication also wanted to ask Dlamini to share with it the number through which the call was made in order to ascertain if indeed Mahlangu was the one who made the call to Dlamini. In a video circulated online, Mahlangu said he was compelled by personal and financial reasons to take the hard decision. In the video, Mahlangu made startling allegations, giving clues that the contention between him and Makhanya was based on personal circumstances and prompted by an apparent lack of financial accountability in the People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO).
He also summarised the situation as a ‘lion mauling its owner’ (libhubesi lidla umnikati walo). He registered discontentment with emaSwati who pretended to be having the best interest of the nation, yet their intention was personal enrichment. “They go to rich countries and ask for money to advance the course of the struggle for change, but after getting the money, they don’t spend it for that purpose.” He alleged that he witnessed this after former warder Bheka Magagula made a live recording on the scarcity of finances in the camp. Mahlangu alleged that money was paid for the liberation cause in different instalments, one of which amounted to E3 million and another E1.5 million.
He said he had no idea how the money was utilised. “We were not offered even money to buy clothes or to send home for our children’s pampers. This is also the reason that commander (Thabo Kunene) decided to go solo, until he fell in the arms of the enemy.” Speaking on People and Places, ‘Major V’ alleged that the man confessed that he was sent to shoot him. According to the man of the cloth, he received a WhatsApp call, purportedly from the man who told him that he was sent to shoot him and he had followed him to Mahhala to execute the job. Dlamini alleged that the man told him that he could not bring himself to shoot him because he respected him. He also mentioned that for that reason, the man decided to abandon the assassination plan.
Assassination
He highlighted that God protected him against the planned assassination. He also mentioned that the fact that someone confessed to poisoning Makhanya, means that the God of this country played a role by touching him to confess. He disputed that the man who made the confession was dragged by government to do so. According to Dlamini, prayer might have played a role in the man revealing himself. He went on to state that PUDEMO should focus on the person who confessed and not blame those who are not part of the attempt on Makhanya’s life.
Furthermore, Dlamini emphasised that they would find themselves engaging in issues that do not involve them. He advised PUDEMO to engage with the person implicated, as there were also allegations that he was not paid some monies. In the video, he narrates events leading to the attempted murder. He said he did not wish for such to happen. “There were personal issues directly linked to me and I am not in a position to divulge them to you, for now. But these are the issues that made me take the decision to hold hands with Makhanya, so that we can die together.
“Kungente ngabona kutsi asibambane ngetandla mine na Makhanya, sikhahlele libhakede,” he said. Mahlangu said what pains him more is that, when something goes wrong, the underground forces are the ones who take the fall. He promised to shed more light on these issues in due course. He warned those who insulted him on Facebook, to be careful, lest the worst may befall them.“Lingadvuma likwehlele manje,” he said, meaning something terrible could befall them. Mahlangu said some people were prone to taking potshots at him, without understanding the pain that he has gone through. “They do not understand that we sometimes sleep in the cold, shivering the whole night. This is like a lion turning to maul its owner. If the lion is no longer fed to the point of satisfaction, it will devour the owner. These are just life lessons that we endure (mafutsa endlela).” He noted that the video clip he was sharing was inconclusive; pending whatever is published in the media. He then promised to shed more light in future. Mahlangu recorded himself in a room, whose location is unknown.
