E574K ‘FAKE’ MAINTENANCE: I’LL TELL IT ALL IN COURT - WOMAN’S HUBBY
MBABANE - “I will tell the court all I know about the matter, if ever the opportunity avails itself.”
This was said by the husband of Babongile Mkhonta, who is accused of fraudulently receiving maintenance money from her baby daddy, for a child who never was.Babongile (35) allegedly received a sum of E574 442 from Sihle Ndlovu, for five years. Some people were suspicious that Babongile’s husband was aware of the fraudulent claims that his wife allegedly made.
In an interview yesterday, the husband, who only identified himself as Mkhonta, said he would present his evidence whenever he was called to do so by the court.
He said for now, he would not comment about the matter that is pending before court. He said he recorded a statement with the police concerning the matter. “I will testify about the contents of my statement if the court deems it fit to call me. For now, my evidence is contained in the statement that I recorded with the police,” he said. Asked about his support for his wife after the alleged incident, the husband said, generally, a parent never forsakes his children or anyone whenever they are faced with difficulties.
He said he believed that whosoever made allegations concerning the matter would be able to furnish the court with proof when required to do so. “I appreciate your interest in the matter, but let’s wait for the court to decide. I will give my evidence if ever the court calls me to do so,” he said.
