GIRLFRIEND BRUTAL MURDER: 3HR SEARCH FOR SUSPECT
NGOMANE – A three-hour search by the police for the man who is suspected to have killed his girlfriend at Ngomane, yielded no results.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) launched a full-scale search for the suspect in the thick forests of KaMagwazipalishi, yesterday morning. According to the search party leaders, there is an assumption that the murder suspect might have taken his own life after committing the brutal murder. They said this was because the suspect’s bag had an open packet of a pesticide.
When hacking his girlfriend, Lindiwe Dlamini, he is believed to have been carrying a small container, with a liquid substance, which was later found to be the pesticide. They said on the day of the incident, some of the investigating officers inspected the crime scene and surroundings, including the area where the suspect went when he fled the scene. They said the police found the said container, but there was little of the pesticide, which made them suspect that maybe he ingested it after murdering his girlfriend. The police also suspected that he might have committed suicide, because he last communicated through his cellphone around 3pm on Tuesday. When the search for his body began, some members of the search party highlighted that if indeed the man ingested the pesticide, they should find his body not very far from where the container was found. After searching for about an hour and a half without success, they took a short break to re-strategise.
Search
They decided to search in another forest, which is opposite the crime scene. The search took another hour and a half, but again in vain. Some of the members of the search party suggested that by leaving the empty container at the scene, the man was trying to divert the attention of the police. “Maybe he was just buying time to escape. He knew that when we find the container, we will assume that he committed suicide and search for his body instead of hunting him down and also listing him on the police wanted list,” they added. They even suggested that his picture should be published on the police wanted list and his details should be sent to Interpol, because maybe he has already skipped the country.
