KING RECEIVES OVER E21M TETFULO FOR INCWALA CEREMONY

NGABEZWENI - “Kutawuphekwa ngagalaza.”

This was said by His Majesty King Mswati III, when receiving over E21 million-worth tetfulo (gifts) from different companies and individuals at Ngabezweni Royal Residence last night.
The tetfulo included money in cash, cattle, groceries, water, soft drinks, alcohol, water, T-shirts and bags, among other goodies, totalling over E21.1 million. Kutawuphekwa ngagalaza is a siSwati edage used to mean ‘there will be plenty food.’ The King likened tetfulo to umdumezulu (surplus). He said it is encouraging to see emaSwati joining hands in presenting tetfulo to cater for the ongoing Incwala Ceremony.

He said he did not know that the nation would reach a stage where they would contribute over E21 millon towards the event, which started at the ancient times.  The King said the quantity of tetfulo meant a growth of the economy and production. He said he is hoping that those who presented tetfulo would keep producing more.  “We hope God and ancestors will bless you with more rain for more production,” he said.

Tetfulo is a cultural way of showing support to the next person in time of need. In this case, they were presented to the King, who is the custodian of culture to cater for the ongoing Incwala Ceremony, which entered its fifth day yesterday. Currently, the event is taking place at Ludzidzini and Ngabezweni Royal residences. The concerned companies and individuals came in numbers with the cattle, groceries and other commodities, which were loaded in trucks and motor vehicles. It was gathered that the desirious emaSwati started entering the royal residence as early as 11am. It was all joy as the King inspected the tetfulo, before he joined the regiment at the arena. Those who presented tetfulo had the opportunity to join the King in dance, while awaiting his formal address.
