GRUESOME MURDER: RIVAL CHOPS MAN’S HANDS IN LOVE TRIANGLE
MBABANE - In an intricate love triangle, a 26-year-old man of Zombodze was savagely butchered by his love rival, who hacked him and chopped some of his limbs.
According to the deceased’s uncle, Mduduzi Sukati, his nephew was attacked with a bush knife, which his love rival used to chop both his hands. "It is unbelievable how someone could have the courage to commit such a crime,” he said. “His hand was nearly severed, with only a small portion of flesh still attached.” Sukati also reported that the suspect attempted to sever the victim’s left leg from the knee. Vuyo Friday Mamba, of Nkamazi near Ludzeludze, also sustained injuries from the bush knife attack, including wounds to his left jaw and the back of his neck.
Relationship
Sukati explained that Mamba became entangled in a love triangle after beginning a relationship with a woman who resides at Ludzeludze, in the Manzini Region. The couple allegedly began visiting each other and introducing each other to their respective families. “We eventually got to meet his girlfriend, and she spent several nights here with us,” Sukati added.
*Mumcy, the woman Mamba was in a relationship with, allegedly had a child from a previous relationship. Mamba’s family is said to have known about the child. “We later learnt that she lived with the child’s father at Ludzeludze, as well as with her mother,” Sukati stated.
The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday night. It is alleged that the couple spent the entire day together at Mamba’s home. In the evening, Mamba briefly stepped out, and Mumcy reportedly left the compound to return home and accompany her child to Ludzeludze. Upon his return, Mamba was informed that Mumcy had already left. He is said to have followed her. When Mamba reached Mumcy’s home, according to his uncle, he found her mother, who informed him that Mumcy had departed, as she was hoping to find her sisters at home, but that was not the case, and she decided to return to Mamba’s residence. Mamba is then reported to have followed her to the bus stop, where he found her with the father of her child. Sukati expressed the family’s confusion regarding eyewitness accounts, claiming that Mamba was the initial aggressor during the altercation, despite his assailant’s body showing no signs of injury, in contrast to his nephew’s fatal wounds.
“It is difficult to believe that Vuyo attacked him first. If this was not a premeditated act, where did the bush knife come from, especially at a bus stop?” he wondered. “My nephew was not merely hacked; his attacker inflicted deep, severe wounds, exposing a bone,” Sukati recounted. “His left knee was also hacked, and his left jaw and the back of his neck were not spared. He sustained multiple deep lacerations across his body.” When asked how the family learnt of Mamba’s death, Sukati explained that they were notified on Monday by Mumcy and her mother. “Unfortunately, there were no adults present at home when they came to report the incident. They left the message with the children,” he stated.
Sukati further mentioned that he only returned home on Monday evening and, on Tuesday morning, requested his younger brother to accompany him to the police station. Before proceeding to the police station, Sukati and his brother visited Mumcy’s home to urge her and her mother to accompany them to Sigodvweni Police Station, given their knowledge of the situation. “We wanted them to reiterate the statements they made when they initially reported the incident, as no adults were present at our home at the time. I also brought my younger brother’s wife, who was also present when they initially reported the incident, to ensure the consistency of their statements at the police station,” Sukati added. He stated that this is how they learnt about the entire sequence of events leading up to the tragic incident.
