DOGS EAT BABY’S CORPSE; MOB KILLS MAN
MBABANE - A bereaved family of Fonteyn was shocked when a dog and its puppies were found feeding on a newly-born baby corpes.
Information gathered was to the effect that the discovery was made by a house helper who was on her way to hang clothes on a washing line, just after some members of the family had left to prepare for the funeral of an elderly member of the family who died on Christmas Day. The Adams family suspected that the dog brought the baby, which was in a decomposed state, while everyone was unsuspecting. In an interview, with consent from the family, the house help who preferred anonymity citing fear, confirmed that she made the discovery while on her way to hang clothes on the washing line.
Puppies
*Dumsile said as she proceeded to the washing line, she heard a snarl of the dog with its puppies. She said she tried to chase the dogs away so that she could see what they were feeding on. This, she said, was because she had not yet fed the dogs. Dumsile said as she drew closer, she had seen a human head and a hand. “I rushed to the house and informed the deceased’s sister about what I had seen. She joined me and advised that I should keep it safe so that police could determine if it is a child. I took it to a container and placed it on top of the roof before we called the members of the family who had left for Mbabane to proceed with the funeral arrangements. I called the police who, however, did not pick the call. I then informed the members of the family who then made means to contact the police,” she said.
Dumsile said it was not easy to identify the unknown baby as it was in a decomposed state with only the upper body remaining. She said she estimated the baby to be six to seven months-old but the police estimated it to be nine months-old. The family said the baby’s relatives had not yet been identified. They suspected that the dog retrieved the baby from a waste bin, a few metres from the homestead.“This thing needs thorough investigations so that the person behind the dumping of the baby can be found and face justice,” said the family.
