GIRLFRIEND STABBED DEAD, BOYFRIEND FOUND HANGING
MBABANE – After being reported missing on Thursday, a woman was found dead with stab wounds yesterday in a forest at Mdzangwini.
Not far from the discovered lifeless body, the woman’s alleged boyfriend was found hanging in a tree in a suspected murder-suicide case. This was confirmed by the Deputy Police Information and Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Nosipho Mnguni. Recently, there have been alarming reports of murders linked to intimate relationships.
Additionally, a report indicated that domestic violence is a significant issue, with statistics showing that there were 147 murders and 133 suicides directly related to domestic violence in the past year. Moreover, a systematic study of intimate partner femicide-suicides in Eswatini revealed that from 2009 to 2022, there were 42 cases resulting in 91 fatalities, indicating a troubling trend in relationship-related violence.
