EX-MP MPANZA ENHI BOARD CHAIR

MANZINI – Former Shiselweni II Member of Parliament Strydom Mpanza is the new ENHI Board of Trustees Chairperson. Mpanza was announced as the new Chairperson by Minister for Health Mduduzi Matsebula, alongside eight other members, at a ceremony held yesterday at the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial Hospital Boardroom. The Board of Trustees, which also includes Khanya Mabuza, the Principal Secretary in the Health ministry, and Mazwi Mavuso, the institution’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), will be responsible for overseeing the organisation’s operations, setting its strategic direction and making key decisions to ensure the best interests of stakeholders are upheld.

The Board will also monitor management, oversee financial performance, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations. In his address, the former MP expressed his deep gratitude and enthusiasm upon accepting his appointment to the board of the Eswatini Nazarene Health Institutions (ENHI). Speaking on behalf of the new board, Mpanza pledged their unwavering commitment to the organisation and its shared goals.

Opportunity

Mpanza thanked the minister for the opportunity to contribute his expertise to the ENHI. He said he is deeply humbled to accept this appointment and is truly excited to bring his experience to this important organisation. He acknowledged the considerable responsibility that the new board carries and reaffirmed their commitment to working diligently alongside the organisation’s team to meet the challenges ahead. He said they were confident that, by leveraging their diverse experiences, they could navigate the challenges that lie ahead and create a positive impact for both stakeholders and the communities they serve. Referring to the minister’s recent comments, Mpanza emphasised the board’s commitment to responding to the ‘nkwe!’ mandate, as delivered by His Majesty the King.

“We have heard the loud call from His Majesty the King on the ‘nkwe!’ mandate, and we will be guided by this directive to ensure timely and effective interventions,” he affirmed.
Reflecting on the ENHI’s century-long legacy, Mpanza recognised the organisation’s remarkable history and its significant contributions to the health and well-being of the people of Eswatini. He noted that the institution would soon celebrate its 100th anniversary, a milestone that underscores its longstanding impact on the nation’s health sector. “This institution has played a pivotal role in pioneering new health initiatives and has a wealth of institutional experience that has been instrumental in improving the lives of many emaswati,” Mpanza said.

Assured

The chairperson further assured both the minister and the ENHI team that the new Board is united by a shared sense of purpose. “This board is not merely a collection of individuals, but a team bound by a common goal. Together, we have the power to drive change, inspire others and make a lasting impact,” he explained. He also spoke on the importance of collaboration and open communication, expressing his belief in the strength of these principles to guide the board’s work. He believes that through collaboration and transparent communication, they will achieve their goals. The chairperson also took a moment to recognise the leadership that has preceded the new board. “The past leaders of this organisation have set remarkable standards and achieved significant milestones. I am committed to building upon the legacy they have left behind,” he said. Mpanza made a call to action for the board and the wider ENHI team. As they move forward, he encouraged them to embrace this journey with a shared vision and a deep commitment to their mission. Together, united in purpose, they will strive for greatness and continue the ENHI’s tradition of excellence, he concluded.

Ambitious

Meanwhile, Minister Matsebula emphasised the institution’s potential for growth and the need for full support from the board to achieve its ambitious objectives. Matsebula pointed out that ENHI, as a re-emerging institution, faces a crucial period in its development and requires the board’s dedicated support to realise its goals. The minister acknowledged that ENHI has presented an ambitious strategy to the ministry aimed at addressing and preventing the financial challenges the institution has encountered in previous years. “You are urged to ensure that the institution continues to improve and moves towards becoming self-sustaining in the future,” Matsebula stated. To achieve these objectives, Matsebula stressed the need for ENHI to establish strong partnerships with private entities and adopt innovative approaches to service delivery. he said this was vital for ensuring the institution’s long-term sustainability and

The minister also praised ENHI for its leadership in pioneering new strategic initiatives that have led to national policy adoption. He urged the institution to continue leveraging this strength, urging it to be a trailblazer in transforming how business is conducted within the health sector. “We continue to urge ENHI to take this leadership role and set new standards for the sector,” Matsebula said.

Challenged

Furthermore, Matsebula challenged the CEO of ENHI to serve as a primary point of communication with the board. He called for regular reports on ENHI’s operations, progress towards strategic goals, and key decision-making, while emphasising the importance of seeking the board’s guidance and approval for major initiatives. He stated that the entire executive team must adhere to this call. The minister reassured the new board of the ministry’s continued commitment to supporting ENHI. He expressed confidence in the board’s ability to work together with the institution’s leadership to deliver high-quality healthcare to the people of Eswatini. As committed by government, Matsebula stated that their aim is to improve the lives of all emaSwati, wishing the new board a productive and collaborative working relationship.
