INYANGA STUMBLES ON MAN’S DEAD BODY

PIGG’S PEAK – A search for traditional medicine in a forest at B1, Peak Timbers in Pigg’s Peak led to a grim discovery on Tuesday of a decomposed body. This marks the third such incident in recent months. Msobho Nkambule (33) of Nginamadvolo was foraging for remedies for toothache, ankle pain and honey when he made the discovery.
Around 4pm, he noticed a strong odour and discovered the body, which was at an advanced state of decomposition.

The deceased was wearing blue trousers and a black T-shirt.  Nkambule noted ropes binding the man’s left hand, ropes near his head, and head injuries, leading him to suspect foul play.
“I suspect that the deceased was severely assaulted, based on the ropes,” Nkambule stated. Nkambule reported the find to a local police officer, who alerted his colleagues.
Officers subsequently retrieved the body.  Nkambule expressed distress over the discovery, explaining that it will require a cleansing ritual involving a goat and a period of seven days before he can resume his work as a traditional healer.

Peak Timber Forestry Manager Maxwell Mtsetfwa confirmed the company was notified by police about the body found on their property. They are awaiting the official police report and Mtsetfwa stated that the company conducts regular patrols of the forest. Mtsetfwa also confirmed that no Peak Timber employees have been reported missing - a message that was relayed to and confirmed by all employees yesterday. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Senior Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the discovery, stating the deceased was approximately 45 years old. A police investigation is ongoing, and the deceased’s relatives have yet to be located. Last weekend, a decomposed body of 32-year-old man was found inside a shack located within the sprawling dagga fields at Mweni.

The circumstances surrounding the man’s death remain unclear and police are treating the case as a sudden death. Detectives are currently investigating the scene and interviewing potential witnesses in an effort to piece together the events leading up to the tragic discovery.  According to sources close to the investigation, police are exploring several possibilities, including natural causes and foul play. The remote location of the shack, nestled deep within the dagga fields, adds another layer of intrigue to the case.
Last month, a hunter discovered the remains of a 40-year-old woman in the mountains between Efasini and Vusweni on January 14.  Those remains have yet to be identified, with local leader Magolide Ndwandwe suspecting she was killed elsewhere and dumped in the area.
