‘NKWE’ ON ENDING CORRUPTION, COMPLETING ICC
LOBAMBA – Senators said ‘nkwe’ should apply to end corruption and complete the International Convention Centre (ICC). Senator Sicelo Dlamini during the sitting, noted that for years, the King has been speaking about ending corruption. He highlighted that during the 2025 State Opening the King went on to request for the arrest of the enablers of corruption.
“The King always speaks about ending corruption. Corruption has engulfed the nation and the King always speaks about it. The King urged that the ‘big fish’ should be caught, including the ‘small fish’ that accompany the big ones. Corruption is a thorny issue to His Majesty and the entire nation, as billions of Emalangeni are lost through corruption. The King also spoke about the ‘nkwe’ mantra, that it should continue this year,” he said. Chief Ngome Ndlangamandla added that government should apply an extra ‘nkwe’ to end corruption as it has affected the country’s development.
Projects
“Corruption has resulted in a failure of the King’s vision, country’s development plans and projects as billions go missing because of corruption,” he said. Senator Isaac Magagula said if the King keeps on requesting the eradication of corruption, it shows that the mark continues to be missed when dealing with corruption. Senator Chief Prince Ngangabani highlighted that the King spoke on the ‘nkwe’ approach again this year and the completion of projects. He said as per the King’s command ICC should be completed this year. He said the prolonged in completion of the Millennium project was not benefitting the nation. “We would urge that this year, ICC should be ended. In the one-and-a-half years we have been in Parliament, I do not know how many times we have spoken about ICC. We believe ICC will be completed this year,” he said. Senator Fezeka Dlamini noted that emphasis was made on the youth and quality education as well as agriculture.
Equipped
“The King emphasised the need for the youth to be equipped with academic and practical skills. The King also spoke about ICT and including it in the curriculum,” She noted and urged the PM to ensure that government speeds up that process.
