MARRIED MAN KILLS GIRLFRIEND IN FRONT OF CHILDREN

MKHUZWENI – In a brutal act of violence, a 26-year-old woman was fatally stabbed over 20 times at Mcuba, Mayiwane, allegedly by her son’s married father.

The incident, fuelled by allegations of infidelity, occurred on Friday, in front of their four-year-old son. The man allegedly continued to stab the woman despite the four-year-old begging him to stop the assault on his mother.

Sources who witnessed the ordeal revealed that the victim, Thembi Lobuhle Dlamini, was attacked after the man, who is married to another woman, suspected that she was impregnated by someone else.

The married man, aged 34, is said to have financially supported the woman during her studies.

Dlamini, employed as a helper in Mbabane, had returned home on Friday, the last day of February. Her mother, Dumsile Ndzimandze, recounted that Dlamini went to the man’s homestead, located near her grandmother’s residence, to collect her daughter.

According to Dlamini’s uncle, the man followed her to her grandmother’s home two hours later. He entered without knocking and demanded she leave with him. When she requested him to go ahead and she would follow, he forcibly dragged her outside.

“Upon getting out of the house and while on the veranda, he is said to have taken out a knife stabbed her in the head and neck. She fell while screaming for help and at the time, their son was outside witnessing her mother being killed,” said a relative.

The uncle stated that Dlamini’s son pleaded with his father to stop, but the suspect continued the attack.

While the assault was continuing, a young female relative jumped out of a window and screamed for help.

While she was screaming, he continued to stab her all over the body, even in her eyes, and the stab wounds were above 20. He then fled the scene before people arrived after he heard the screams for help,” he said.

The victim’s son, who witnessed the horrific incident, thought his mother was killed with a spoon, not realising that it was a knife. The uncle also revealed that the alleged killer had recently hinted at paying a cultural fine for impregnating Dlamini. The man was apprehended on Saturday at his grandmother’s homestead at Mhlangatane, as confirmed by the victim’s uncle. The atmosphere at the Dlamini homestead was sombre as mourners gathered.
