ANOTHER SUSPECTED SERIAL RAPIST TARGETING MINORS ARRESTED
MBABANE – A suspected serial rapist targeting minor girls has been arrested, days after another was nabbed for numerous rapes committed across Mbabane and surrounding areas.
The 43-year-old man, who is a concrete block manufacturer, is currently in custody. He is accused of sexually assaulting five girls aged between four and 14 years. The accused is employed by a construction company around Sidwashini in Mbabane.
The disturbing discovery unfolded within the accused’s rented one-room flat, where he allegedly preyed on the minors who resided in the same compound with their mothers.
His modus operandi involved exploiting his perceived friendly demeanour, gaining the children’s trust before subjecting them to horrific abuse.
He allgedly started raping them last month according to a report by the police.
The alarm was first raised when a mother noticed her young daughter exhibiting signs of distress.
Pain
“She complained of pain in her private parts,” recounted the mother of one of the survivors. “She would flinch at the slightest touch.” Initially, the child’s mother struggled to understand the cause of her daughter’s discomfort.
As days passed, other women in the compound observed similar changes in their daughters’ behaviour. The suspect, who had initially appeared amicable, often sharing treats with the children, became the focus of growing suspicion.
The truth began to emerge when one of the girls, after a medical examination, confided in her mother about the source of the pain she was experiencing.
This prompted a collective effort among the mothers. “They banded together, sharing their concerns and supporting one another,” a source revealed.
The breakthrough came when a child, feeling safe in the presence of a female police officer posing as a relative, bravely disclosed the suspect’s actions. “She detailed how the man had coerced them into sexual activities, leading to physical pain and emotional turmoil,” said the source. The suspect allegedly threatened the minors with physical violence if they revealed his actions.
“One would not suspect that the suspect was subjecting the children to sexual harassment, because they seemed comfortable around and they liked his company. It was as though he was luring them with something which they liked,” the father of one of the survivors said.
Three of the children attend the same local school, while the others attend schools further afield, including one at Sandla. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the arrest.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another arrest, where a suspected serial rapist Sipho Anthony Mbuyisa, a street pastor, was apprehended for a string of sexual assaults and a murder in Mbabane and surrounding areas. He later claimed to be possessed during his court appearance. This arrest came just days after this publication reported a rapist was actively, sexually assaulting women in broad daylight.
