GOGO (69) ACCUSES ‘MAJOR V’ OF LAND FRAUD
LOBAMBA – In a turn of events, Prophet Vusumuzi ‘Major V’ Dlamini, a prominent political and religious figure, finds himself at the centre of controversy.
The self-proclaimed man of God and member of Liqoqo has been accused of allegedly selling non-existent land to a 69-year-old widow, Sibonelo Dlamini. The matter came to light after the elderly woman publicly alleged that she had handed over E10 000 cash and a cow to the prophet in exchange for a piece of land at Mliba.
However, to her shock, upon enquiring with neighbours, she discovered that the land in question did not belong to ‘Major V’. Feeling deceived, she immediately demanded a refund of her money and the return of her cow. Determined to seek justice, Gogo Sibonelo reported the matter to the Ludzidzini Council, the highest traditional court in Eswatini, which serves as an advisory body to Her Majesty the Indlovukazi.
Favour
The council summoned ‘Major V’ to appear before them on Thursday morning, ultimately ruling in favour of the elderly widow.
The council has ordered Prophet Dlamini to repay Gogo Sibonelo within two months, instructing him to provide proof of payment by May 20, 2025.
Dlamini, who leads the Mountain of Salvation Church in Matsapha, has previously faced criticism for his controversial actions.
Notably, he once announced plans to close his church to develop rental properties, a move that raised concerns among both his congregation and the wider community. He made this declaration on a live Facebook post. Gogo Sibonelo shared how she came into contact with ‘Major V’, explaining that she was introduced to him by a female member of his church.
During the Reed Dance in Nhlangano on September 20, 2024, she said he assured her that he could secure a piece of land for her.
“I had not seen the land, but the way he described it convinced me. So, I gave him E10 000 in cash plus a cow,” she recounted.
Recalled
She recalled the lengths she went to in order to finalise the transaction, including driving from Manzini to Ngudzeni to procure the cow before heading to Nhlangano for a transport permit. However, upon finally seeing the plot, she was horrified to discover that the land did not belong to ‘Major V’.
Instead, it was owned by a Magagula family and had only been leased to ‘Major V’ for church services. Deeply frustrated, Gogo Sibonelo shared how the ordeal caused tensions within her family.
“I no longer want the land or any replacement because this situation has caused friction between me and my children. “He must repay my E10 000 and return my cow,” she insisted, revealing that she had secured the land with the intention of leaving it to one of her children. She expressed satisfaction with the Ludzidzini Council’s ruling, although she had hoped the council would insist that ‘Major V’ return the money and cow directly to them to spare her the emotional distress of dealing with him again.
