MBABANE – From today, First National Bank (FNB) clients will wake up to a whole new world of cellphone banking.
This means that customers will access banking at the touch of their cellphones and in the comfort of their own homes, offices or wherever they are.

The new innovation, the first of its kind in Swaziland, was launched at House on Fire yesterday afternoon.
This is a partnership between FNB and MTN Swaziland.
FNB is renowned for bringing new technological banking solutions locally, as it was the first to introduce Internet banking a few years ago.

Speaking during the launch, FNB’s Managing Director Dave Wright said their main focus remained endeavouring to provide exceptional customer service, at the same time striving to offer innovative and cost effective banking products and solutions to the people of Swaziland.
“Another first from FNB Swaziland in the form of technology, is cellphone banking which will certainly provide easy, convenient banking and all that is required is a cellphone,” he said.

Target

Wright said His Majesty King Mswati III had given all Swazis a target to ensure Swaziland becomes a first world country by 2022.
“At FNB, we believe that from a banking perspective we are there but must ensure we continue providing world class banking solutions that will keep all Swazis at the forefront of technological advancement. It is with this in mind that we developed cellphone banking and it is a great pleasure to announce that as from tomorrow (today), each and every Swazi can do their banking from the convenience of their cellphones.

No more queuing to do a transfer or driving to a bank to get a statement. All of this can now be done in the comfort of your own home, on your cellphone,” Wright explained.

He highlighted that the project took a lot of energy and dedication; and further thanked FNB and MTN staff for the ‘hard work and commitment’ shown in getting the project off the ground.

“I would like to encourage the people of Swaziland to embrace innovative solutions in their day-to-day lives as we at FNB feel this is one of the steps to achieve first world status,” he said.
