LOBAMBA – Police are probing a traditional dancer’s claims that she was held hostage by one of her male colleagues in a bid to rape her.

This happened at Mantenga Cultural Village. The complainant *Nomcebo Dludlu is part of a dance troupe that entertains visitors, especially tourists.

She said she was tricked into attending a late night meeting while her boss was away.

"At midnight on Saturday I woke up to a call from one of the male employees at the village. he said he was on his way to pick me up for an urgent meeting that I had to attend without fail," alleged Dludlu as she narrated her ordeal at her homestead.

Dludlu said what led her to fall for her colleague’s sex plot was that she had had a verbal showdown with some of her female colleagues that day at work.

"The impression given was that management wanted to deliberate on the issue," she said.

It was gathered that the managerial staff comprised mainly of South Africans who are in and out of the country most of the time.

"Two men drove me to the village and led me to one of the cottages. No one was inside and I was told to wait," she narrated. As Dludlu waited she became suspicious as the males enjoyed their alcoholic beverages in the still of the night.

"I called them to take me home. However, they disappeared as if they were coming back soon. When they returned it was obvious that I had just been taken for a ride," said Dludlu.

Decided

She said the male dancer then decided to leave the other who is believed to be South African with Dludlu.

"Just there and then *Muzi (Dube) undressed himself and touched me in a sexual manner. He invited me to the bed which is inside the cottage, but I refused and he tried to force himself on me.

"Seeing that I was resisting persistently he decided to drive me back home and by then it was already past 4am," she claimed.

Dludlu claimed that when she was about to alight from the car Dube locked all doors and forcefully kissed her as he fondled her breasts. She said she was let go after she tried to raise an alarm.

When sought for comment on the matter Dube said Dludlu was not being honest.

"That is not what happened. She knows what really happened. I do not want to discuss this matter since she has already reported it to the police," he said.

The village’s Chief Executive Officer, Nomlindo Mhlongo, confirmed having heard the story and that it was under police investigation. Mhlongo said she personally had her reservations concerning the matter.

Police Public Relations Officer Superintendent Vusi Masuku confirmed that a case of indecent assault on a female traditional dancer was being investigated by the Lobamba Police. "What is even more surprising is that both parties share the same surname," said Masuku.
