20 share the Lotto
MBABANE—After a week of intense promotion and launch, where Top Lotto even gave away thousands of Emalangeni through its helicopter promotion, the first draw was held last night.
The first numbers drawn were 39, 6, 2, 21, 41 and 10. However, the much-anticipated first lotto live draw failed to produce a jackpot winner. The winning numbers were ones that were randomly selected by the Top Lotto’s computer generator under the watchful eye of an independent auditor Didi Mulindwa and the Swaziland Gaming Board. Total money collected from the SMSs sent by those playing the Lotto amounted to E137 000 which signifies that over 23 000 SMSs were sent for the lotto games. However, about 20 people managed to win themselves E1 370 each after picking four correct numbers. This means that they had to share the winnings. The E137 00 broken down meant that a jackpot of about E68 500 was guaranteed for a person who was lucky enough to pick the six numbers but unfortunately no one did. Five numbers guaranteed about E41 000 and again none of the players were able to get the numbers right. It was only the four numbers, which had 20 people getting them right and picking them correctly guaranteed about E27 000. The money then had to be divided by the 20 who got the numbers right, which is how each ended up getting the E1 370.
The draw was conducted live on local television station Swazi TV yesterday night.
In an interview with Top Lotto Director Victor Gamedze, he explained that the lotto operates in such a way that the more the people play, the more the jackpot. "This is their game and ours is just to manage their money so if they don’t play then the jackpot money will be little so I would urge people to play even more," he said.
He mentioned that at the moment the company will be skipping a week and then another draw will be done but that will change after this month.
"After this month the draw will be done every week so to make it more exciting," he added.
The Top Lotto game began with a bang last week when an Army chopper became a darling to locals in the two cities when it rained notes starting at the overcrowded Manzini Bus Rank on Thursday and then at the Mbabane Prince of Wales the following day.
On Saturday people came from all walks of life to try their luck when the chopper landed again at the Manzini Trade Fair old ground during the launch of the games. A lot of people went home happy as they won many prizes, which included money. Two of them won E25 000 and E15 000.
To enter for the draw one just has to SMS LOTTO and their six lucky numbers to 4949.
