A month later, Jim Gama still in S. African hospital
MBABANE – It’s now a month since Jim Gama, the indisposed Ludzidzini Governor, was admitted to a private clinic in Pretoria, South Africa.
This was disclosed by acting Ludzidzini Governor Timothy Velabo Mthethwa, in an interview last week.
Mthethwa, however, said he was not in a position to disclose Gama’s current health status or whether or not he was on the road to recovery, citing confidentiality as the main reason.
"You better contact his close relatives about his present health," was all the acting governor would say. "It’s not something easy to talk about someone’s health status (akusimalula nje kukhuluma nge mphilo yalomunye umuntfu)."
Mthethwa then wished Gama a speedy recovery, saying his services were greatly missed by all the people he worked closely with at the traditional headquarters.
Gama, among his duties, was Chairman of the Ludzidzini Council.
In October 2009, Gama collapsed while at the Swaziland Broadcasting and Information Services.
He was at the public broadcaster to record one of his popular programmes Khalamdumba-dumbane (problem solving) when he collapsed.
Gama was rushed to the Mbabane Clinic where doctors diagnosed him as having suffered a severe stroke.
For the whole of last year (2010), he did not report for duty due to his deteriorating health condition.
He has been in and out of the Mbabane Clinic since then.
It was only at the end of last month (January) when they transferred him to South Africa.
